Below are a list of questions that people ask most frequently. If you have any more questions, feel free to leave a message at the phone number above.
How does the adoption process work?
The adoption process begins by filling out the application form. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Once we've received the form, and you are approved, you will be contacted by one of our Adoption Volunteers.
How long does this take?
As Polar Pug Rescue & Friends is run entirely by volunteers, please do not expect a call or email immediately after submitting the application. You will be contacted if we have any questions, or after the application is processed and approved.
Where can I visit the dogs?
The dogs are in foster homes. Please call our message line (907) 222-6851 and leave a message to schedule an appointment to meet the pug or other dog that interests you. We do not set up appointments until we have your application form.

Must my yard be fenced? Having a fenced yard is always preferable and sometimes required depending on the dog. We look for responsible homes committed to providing for the needs of the adopted dog in safety. An acceptable means of restraint when taking your dog outside is necessary.
Why is a home visit necessary? Home visits are standard practice among most rescue organizations. Volunteers will get a first-hand look at the potential home and will verify basic information provided on the application.
What if we can't keep our adopted dog? Only applicants who are committed to providing a lifetime of love and responsible care for their dog will be considered for adoption. We realize that sometimes circumstances are unavoidable. In these cases, you are required by contract to return your dog to us so it can be carefully re-homed.
